Right from the young age, children should be nurtured with the wonderful value system, devotion, renunciation, etc.<\/p>\n<p>piLLAi\/piLLai (in thamizh) means a child as well as a new comer to the sampradhAyam. SrIranganAthan himself is called as kOyilpiLLAi &#8211; kOyil refers to SrIrangam and piLLAi refers to krishNa. <a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">periya perumAL<\/a> (mUlavar at SrIrangam) is often explained as kaNNan emperumAn and namperumAL (uthsavar at SrIrangam) is often explained as SrI rAma.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/periyaperumal.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-232 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/periyaperumal.jpeg\" alt=\"periyaperumal\" width=\"699\" height=\"507\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/periyaperumal.jpeg 699w, https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/periyaperumal-300x218.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 699px) 100vw, 699px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In thiruppAvai, 7th pAsuram, <a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2012\/12\/16\/andal\/\">ANdAL<\/a> says &#8220;piLLAi ezhunthirAi&#8221; &#8211; here piLLAi is explained as a new-comer to bhagavadh vishayam.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/23\/thirumangai-azhwar\/\">thirumangai AzhwAr<\/a> explains in periya thirumozhi that &#8220;<em>kaNapuram kaithozhum piLLaiyaip piLLai enReNNap peRuvaRE&#8221; (\u0b95\u0ba3\u0baa\u0bc1\u0bb0\u0bae\u0bcd \u0b95\u0bc8\u0ba4\u0bca\u0bb4\u0bc1\u0bae\u0bcd \u0baa\u0bbf\u0bb3\u0bcd\u0bb3\u0bc8\u0baf\u0bc8\u0baa\u0bcd \u0baa\u0bbf\u0bb3\u0bcd\u0bb3\u0bc8 \u0b8e\u0ba9\u0bcd\u0bb1\u0bc6\u0ba3\u0bcd\u0ba3\u0baa\u0bcd \u0baa\u0bc6\u0bb1\u0bc1\u0bb5\u0bb1\u0bc7<\/em>) &#8211; One who worships thirukkaNNapuram, even he\/she is a small (or ones own) child, one cannot think them like a child &#8211; he\/she should be thought as a SrIvaishNava.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/kanapuram-boy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-229 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/kanapuram-boy.jpg\" alt=\"kanapuram-boy\" width=\"710\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/kanapuram-boy.jpg 775w, https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/kanapuram-boy-300x110.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/kanapuram-boy-768x280.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 710px) 100vw, 710px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">SrI rAmAnuja<\/a> observed children playing in SrIrangam. They were enacting the activities at the temple and at one point they called out for SrI rAmAnuja. As he was there, he immediately went in front of them and accepted the honors as he would do in the temple in front of SrIranganAthan.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, when he met a small girl outside thirukkOLUr (dhivya dhEsam near <a href=\"http:\/\/azhwarthirunagari.koyil.org\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #21759b;\">AzhwAr thirunagari<\/span><\/span><\/a>), he enquires from her why she was leaving town. At that time the girl rhymes off wonderful philosophical points and <a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">SrI rAmAnuja<\/a> is amazed at her brilliance and knowledge in sampradhAyam principles. This conversation is famously known as thirukkOLUr peN piLLai rahasyam.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/thirukkOLur-peN-piLLai.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-234 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/thirukkOLur-peN-piLLai.jpg\" alt=\"thirukkOLur-peN-piLLai\" width=\"277\" height=\"361\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/thirukkOLur-peN-piLLai.jpg 277w, https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/thirukkOLur-peN-piLLai-230x300.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 277px) 100vw, 277px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He meets another small girl while going to<a href=\"http:\/\/azhwarthirunagari.koyil.org\/\"> AzhwAr thirunagari <\/a>and asks her how far is AzhwAr thirunagari from where he was. She very cleverly says it is very near-by citing <a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s pAsuram. He becomes delighted to hear that and greatly appreciates her.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/sriramanuja-small-girl-near-azhwar.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-332 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/sriramanuja-small-girl-near-azhwar.jpg\" alt=\"sriramanuja-small-girl-near-azhwar\" width=\"308\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/sriramanuja-small-girl-near-azhwar.jpg 308w, https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/sriramanuja-small-girl-near-azhwar-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 308px) 100vw, 308px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He also acknowledged the greatness of <a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2012\/09\/11\/parasara-bhattar\/\">parAsara bhattar<\/a> even when bhattar was a small child and instructed his sishyas to treat bhattar like himself.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, when <a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2012\/09\/23\/azhagiya-manavala-mamunigal\/\">mAmunigaL<\/a> completed bhagavadh vishaya kAlakshEpam in front of <a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">namperumAL<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> himself appears as a small boy, accepts <a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2012\/09\/23\/azhagiya-manavala-mamunigal\/\">mAmunigaL<\/a> as his AchArya and submits him the most famous &#8220;SrISailESa dhayApAthram&#8221; thaniyan.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/srisailesa-thanian-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-540 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/srisailesa-thanian-small.jpg\" alt=\"srisailesa-thanian-small\" width=\"647\" height=\"476\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/srisailesa-thanian-small.jpg 647w, https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/srisailesa-thanian-small-300x221.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 647px) 100vw, 647px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>piLLai is also a honorary term for advanced scholars. For example, <a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2012\/09\/17\/vadakku-thiruveedhi-pillai\/\">vadakku thiruvIdhi piLLai<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2013\/10\/05\/periyavachan-pillai\/\">periayavAchAn piLLai<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2013\/04\/21\/eeynni-madhava-perumal\/\">nAlUr piLLai<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/guruparamparai.wordpress.com\/2013\/04\/21\/eeynni-madhava-perumal\/\">nAlUrAchAn piLLai<\/a> were few AchAryas who had the title &#8220;piLLai&#8221; in their name itself.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, children could be nurtured to grow from innocent level to highly intelligent level through proper education in this glorious sath sampradhAyam principles.
